A Brief Look At Laser Liposuction
Liposuction is a form of surgery designed to remove excess fat from various parts of the body. It involves the insertion of suction tubes into the body; a vacuum attached at one end of the tube will then suck out the fat and remove it from the body. Laser liposuction originated in Europe and is a form of liposuction that produces less swelling as well as less of the pain and bruising that is commonly associated with traditional liposuction treatment.
Laser liposuction is different to normal in that since there is no vacuuming out of the fat involved; rather, use is made of low energy lasers that which are aimed at the fat-affected areas. When these waves of laser beams hit the cellular membranes of the fatty cells there is a consequent weakening of the cells which will then leak out.
Following the application of lasers a cannula or very small surgical tool is inserted where the original incisions were made and this instrument is then used to suck out the weakened fat and in this aspect it works in a similar manner to regular liposuction methods. However, laser liposuction is a much less invasive procedure.

To complete the laser liposuction process use is again made of low intensity laser beams that now help in reducing pain. At this stage the laser beams help to reduce any swelling and inflammation. On the day following the procedure the patient may have to return to the surgical facility to attend a pain management session.
Following these steps the patient will begin to notice a dramatic reduction in fat in the areas that were treated. There should also be very little discomfort felt which is what makes laser liposuction more attractive than the more traditional liposuction techniques.
Laser liposuction is primarily aimed at certain parts of the body that lend themselves well to this form of fat reduction. For example, in the case of women, the abdomen, hips, thighs and knees are well suited to being treated by laser liposuction. In the case of men, the areas that are best suited for laser liposuction include abdomen and love handles, and also arms and even necks.
When it comes to estimating laser liposuction costs you will need to discuss this with your cosmetic surgeon. What determines the final costs are the type of anesthesia to be used, the skill, expertise and knowledge of the surgeon, the type of machine that is used and the area of the body that the surgery is to be performed on.
